Terms of use
Last updated: October 15, 2026.
These Terms describe the official CreateRatio website, browser extension distribution, and support provided by Sunset Atomic LLC ("CreateRatio," "we," "us," or "our"). Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.
In brief: CreateRatio is a free, open-source personal focus tool. Your extension activity stays in your browser. The code is licensed under MIT, including for commercial reuse; these Terms do not replace or restrict that license.
1. Open-source license and official services
The CreateRatio source code and distributed extension are available under the MIT License. It permits using, copying, modifying, distributing, sublicensing, and selling copies, including commercially, provided the required copyright and permission notice is included. It does not require you to publish your modifications.
The MIT License governs rights in the licensed software and documentation. If these Terms conflict with that license, the MIT License controls for that material. You do not need a separate commercial license or our permission to exercise those rights. Third-party components retain their own licenses and notices.
These Terms concern our official website, distributions, and support, not services operated by independent forks. Do not present a modified or independent product as an official CreateRatio release or imply our endorsement. This does not restrict truthful attribution or lawful descriptive use of the name.
2. Free extension and optional commercial offerings
The browser extension and its future improvements remain free and open source. We do not currently offer CreateRatio accounts, paid extension features, subscriptions, or a checkout. Installing or using the extension does not start a trial, create a payment obligation, or require a payment card.
Donations and separate, optional paid products or services may fund the project. This does not mean they are currently available or promised. Any such offering would be clearly identified with its own price, payment terms, applicable cancellation or refund terms, and privacy disclosures before you choose it. There is no automatic enrollment or charge for existing extension users.
Any cloud or paid service must be optional and explicitly opt-in, without weakening the free extension or compromising its privacy. Charging for a separate service does not revoke MIT rights in copies of the software already distributed.
3. What the extension can and cannot do
CreateRatio helps you manage your own attention through local measurements and site-access controls. Scores and activity counts are estimates based on supported website interfaces, not a complete or independently verified record of your work. Websites and browsers change, and measurements or controls may stop working or behave incorrectly.
It is not tamper-proof enforcement, parental supervision, employee monitoring, medical treatment, or professional advice. We do not promise any particular productivity, health, or behavioral result. You remain in control of your browser and the features you enable.
Access gates can redirect open tabs when access expires, which may interrupt work or lose unsaved drafts. Save important work before using them. Local history is limited and may be removed by retention rules, storage limits, browser resets, or uninstalling. Keep your own exports if you need a longer record; we cannot recover records stored only on your device.
4. Your content and local data
We do not claim ownership of your posts, intention text, activity history, or exports. Using the extension does not grant us a license to that content. Publishing the extension's source code does not make your local records public, and we do not receive them through the extension.
You decide whether to enable optional features, export data, or send information to us. Do not submit private activity, credentials, or sensitive documents in public issues or reviews. Material you choose to submit to a third-party platform is also subject to that platform's terms.
Code contributions to this repository are made under its MIT License unless a separate arrangement is expressly agreed. You must have the right to contribute what you submit. Suggestions and bug reports do not require us to implement a change or provide ongoing support.
5. Browsers, stores, and supported websites
CreateRatio is independent of X, LinkedIn, browser vendors, and extension stores. Their names identify compatibility, not sponsorship or endorsement. Their terms and policies continue to apply when you use their products.
Support for a site or browser can change. A build target or source installation guide is not a promise of a store listing, store approval, or compatibility with every browser version. Independent forks and modified builds may handle data differently; review their code and policies rather than assuming this Privacy Policy applies to them.
6. Use of our website and support
Do not use our website or support channels to break the law, infringe others' rights, distribute malware, or disrupt or gain unauthorized access to infrastructure we operate. These rules concern our services; they do not add restrictions to using, modifying, testing, or redistributing your own MIT-licensed copy.
7. Availability and stopping use
We may update or discontinue the website, official distributions, integrations, or support. We do not promise uptime, uninterrupted compatibility, or a support response time. Discontinuing an official service does not revoke the MIT License for copies you already received.
You can stop using the website or disable or uninstall the extension at any time. There is no CreateRatio account to close or subscription to cancel. Uninstalling removes extension-owned browser storage, not exported files or browser/device backups. See the Privacy Policy's retention and deletion section for details.
8. Warranties, liability, and your legal rights
The software carries the warranty disclaimer and liability limitation in the MIT License. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, our website, distributions, and support are also provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted or error-free operation.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Sunset Atomic LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from our website or support, such as lost profits, lost data, or interrupted work. The MIT License separately governs liability relating to the licensed software.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud, intentional misconduct, or other liability protected by applicable law. You keep all mandatory consumer and privacy rights under the laws that apply to you.
9. Changes to these Terms
We will publish revised Terms here with an updated date. Material changes affecting official services will receive a prominent notice on the website or in the extension, with additional notice or agreement where required by law. Changes apply prospectively and do not rewrite the MIT License for software already distributed. A future purchase would require the separate terms shown before that purchase.
